All our programs are either tailored to support relevant units within the new curriculum, or as specifically requested by our clients.
Our “Mining” programs for years 11-12 have been specifically developed for units of study in Geography as well as Earth and Environmental Science. Each can however be tailored to a school’s needs. Our “Mining” excursions involve the exploration of a mine along with nearby farms, communities and power stations. Alternatively, “Mining” incursions involve an interactive PowerPoint presentation with a virtual tour of a local mine. Students learn about the impacts of mining or quarrying on both local communities and the environment. They also learn to evaluate management decisions based on both efficiency and sustainability. These programs are delivered by passionate facilitators with specialist knowledge on mining. The experiences can be delivered to complement the following units or modules:

Iron ore and coal mining are the two largest export industries in Australia. While it is important to acknowledge the immense economic benefits offered by these products, the mining activity required to produce them can severely harm local ecologies. On this adventure, you will learn about the economic benefits and environmental impacts of mining or quarrying. You will jump into a poignant local debate where social and political factors affecting the extent of mining come to light. You will also use a variety of fieldwork techniques to assess undisturbed areas in contrast with areas disturbed by mining. If you are seeking a different approach to your “Mining” study, we can design a program that is suitable for you.
